winterSALON/2013: Cherish by Desiree Hammen

Inspired by altars and temples, the artist exhibits everyday belongings next to clothing, created by using crafts. One item is a dress for men as a symbol of shifting traditions. To praise them, all items are decorated with gold embroidery, using Turkish techniques such as Telkari and Dival.

Hammen is participant of the SALON/Workshop.

Desiree Hammen (1976) graduated at ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem, 2003. She works as a fashion designer and artist in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. In her work Desiree is combining haute couture techniques with her own DIY skills, exploring the beauty of imperfection.

You can find her installation in the garden house of Museum Het Grachtenhuis. A very impressive and stunning location of WinterSALON/.
