View all posts about SALON/Big Bang HERE on this blog

SALON/Big Bang may relate to ideas shaped by man and nature; the big bang, belief, faith, superstition, disbelief, madness, desire, spirituality, ritual and devotion. SALON/ thus serves as a ‘platform of meaning’ for the city of Amsterdam, a place where ideas are questioned and discussed, where (ritual) actions are performed, where creations lead to new narratives between creator and viewer, object and space. SALON/ aims to create a dynamic collaboration between the participants and the public, resulting in a lasting experience. As always with SALON/, various creative disciplines will come together to give new and meaningful insights into their work on different locations along the route.

SALON/Big Bang exhibition:
SALON/Big Bang will again include an impressive curated section where designers are given the opportunity to take part in an exhibition with new or existing work, connected to a given context and location.

SALON/Big Bang Participants:Karin Arink, Elke Baggen, Mimi Berlin, Marc Bijl, Frank Bruggeman, Martin Butler & Floris Didden, Crystal Z Campbell, Maria van Daalen, Esther Dorhout Mees, Marleen Elenbaas, fORs, Freudenthal/Verhagen, Liselore Frowijn, Conny Groenewegen, Wilfred Ben Jansen & Corine Baas, Maartje Jaquet, Chris Kabel, Desiree Hammen, Hans Christiaan Klasema, Germaine Kruip, Klaas Kuiken & Peter van der West, Joris Landman, MAISON the FAUX, MaryMe-JimmyPaul, Katja Mater, Jef Montes, Navid Nuur, NOMAN, O n e L o v e (Desiree Hammen & Jarwo Gibson), PAD (Dinie Besems & Patty Groot Bluemink), rENs, Siba Sahabi, The School of Life, Manolis Tsipos, Herman Verhagen, Robin de Vogel, Guido van der Werve, Margret Wibmer, Ken Wolff, You Are Cordially Invited, ao

SALON/Big Bang locations:
SALON/ will again enter into partnerships with various notable locations. A challenging, idiosyncratic, cultural journey, this time along and through the nooks and crannies of ‘elevated’ houses, including (TBC): Oude kerk, Oudekerksplein, Ons’ Lieve Heer Op Solder, Oudezijds Voorburgwal, Magazijn, Oudezijds Voorburgwal, Bijbelsmuseum/ Cromhout Huizen, Herengracht, DE DUIF, Prinsengracht, De Amstelkerk, Kerkstraat, Posthoornkerk, Haarlemmerstraat, Joods Historisch Museum, Portugees Joodse Synagoge, Doopsgezinde Kerk, Singel, Amsterdam Museum, Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, CZAR, Keizersgracht, Kesselskramer, Lauriergracht.

SALON/specials:
During SALON/Big Bang there will also be a continuation of SALON/specials. We have noticed there is a desire for a more in-depth exchange of information and ideas through presentations, discussions and conversations. For this purpose, the SALON/specials were created: a gathering at one of the SALON/locations where specific guests or participants are invited to give a presentation on a particular topic, collection or object, to have a ‘try out’, or to test certain ideas through conversation. These SALON/specials are ‘by invitation only’, which give them an exclusive and intriguing character.

SALON/ Participanten:
Karin Arink, Elke Baggen, Mimi Berlin, Marc Bijl, Frank Bruggeman, Martin Butler & Floris Didden, Crystal Z Campbell, Maria van Daalen, Esther Dorhout Mees, Marleen Elenbaas, fORs, Freudenthal/Verhagen, Liselore Frowijn, Conny Groenewegen, Wilfred Ben Jansen & Corine Baas, Maartje Jaquet, Chris Kabel, Desiree Hammen, Eamonn Harnett, Hans Christiaan Klasema, Germaine Kruip, Klaas Kuiken & Peter van der West, Joris Landman, MAISON the FAUX, MaryMe-JimmyPaul, Katja Mater, Jef Montes, Navid Nuur, NOMAN, O n e L o v e (Desiree Hammen & Jarwo Gibson), PAD (Dinie Besems & Patty Groot Bluemink), rENs, Siba Sahabi, The School of Life, Manolis Tsipos, Herman Verhagen, Robin de Vogel, Guido van der Werve, Margret Wibmer, Ken Wolff, You Are Cordially Invited, e.a.

SALON/Big Bang: Event, Fairies for Freedom, A Midsummernight's Eve Party

SALON/Big Bang EVENT; Fairies for Freedom A Midsummernight's Eve Party
Together with Amsterdam's finest LTGB supporting creatives, Stichting Mediamatic, SALON/ and Martin Butler host a special evening for the benefits of ALLOUT. On June 21st Midsummer-night's Eve, we call upon all Fays, Fairies, and other magical creatures to enter our enchanting realm and celebrate lightness on the longest day.
Illustration for Fairies For Freedom, the benefit party for ALLOUT organized by Martin Butler as part of Lightness

ALLOUT:
In more than 79 countries around the world, lesbian, gay, transgendered and bisexual people live in that darkness. They are persecuted, imprisoned, humiliated and tortured, their only crime being their expression of the act of love.
ALLOUT is an international organization that focusses on changing the policy, education and awareness of LTGB rights. Through video testimonials, flash mobs, petitions and other creative content they aim to start provocative conversations to alter the public opinion.
On this Midsummernight's Eve 2014, 21st June we try to make a difference. All benefits on ticket sale and the fashion auction are donated directly to ALLOUT. Let's fight this darkness and celebrate the longest day with love, play and freedom.

Aynouk Tan will open the Fairies for Freedom with a One Woman Musical.
Starting at 21:00
Mediamatic, VOC-kade 10, Oostenburg Amsterdam.
