winterSALON/2013: Adrian Esparza

Adrian Esparza (1970) was born and raised in El Paso and returned here to live soon after earning his graduate degree from the California Institute for the Arts. He garners much of his source material and artistic inspiration from his borderland experience, and the artist's daily encounter with this political divide seems to nourish his perpetual challenge of generally accepted boundaries and hierarchies.

Two slightly delusional characters, by the names of Britt and Fred, have been telling tasty stories together, since 2010. Being trained in the haute of the orange peel Parisian and lemonade London fashion houses, they combine their winged wayward style with clear-but classical knowledge. They are always in search of the finest materials and are developing dreamt-of-fabrics themselves, inspired by titillating traditional crafts.
Trying to tread the world lightly, they use eco-friendly materials. And thus the intimate interior of the temporary Parisian supercalifragilisticexpialido-shop is completely made out of scrap wood. Saying FredfarrowBrittavelontan is like saying Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
